Is a playhouse/clubhouse for a small child a waste of money? I am considering purchasing a playhouse that?

is the size of a small shed, it will be like a clubhouse/playhouse. My children are toddlers so this is something that I would keep for at least ten years. Has anyone purchased a playhouse like this for their children and if so was it worth it or a waste of money (I know that every child is different) but just wanted some input.

We purchased one not quite that large. My girls like it but dont love it. They are 1 and 4 years old.

I wanted one of those so bad when I was a kid. But I never got one. It’s definitely a good investment. I’ve never known a kid who didn’t want one at a time or another.

It really depends on the type of kid that you have. I have one that was my daughters, she is 15 now, I think she got it when she was 4, so they definitely last. My 11 year old daughter never bothered with it much, but my son, who is 7 now uses it a lot. He fixes it with his tools! I would say it is worth the investment. The biggest problem that I have is that they get dirty on the inside, bugs and stuff and the kids don’t want to go in then.

We have one. We got it when our oldest was 1 (he is now 18). It has been through our 5 kids plus kids that I baby sat and a whole host of neighbor kids.
It has been a fort, tea room, castle, race car, dog house, tent, sandbox, fairy house, private getaway — you name it.
It has been a bit hard to maintain — leaves, dirt and sand get inside and the bugs seem to love it inside. I have to clean it out periodically or else the kids won’t go in due to the little critters– but my kids still go in sometimes to have ‘privacy’ when they are in a serious cell phone call with friends.

It’s like this. The kids will love it – at first. just like everything else. But after a while the novelty wears off. Then it will rarely get used unless a friend comes over and revives your kids interest. Or if a certain game would warrant using a house or a building. My girls had one. But, it was an expense that I was able to make effortlessly, so I did not mind. If this will put financial stress on you – forget about it. Nothing works better than the homemade tents using blankets and chairs.
We kept our playhouse on our patio. Since the kids rarely played with it towards the end, we used to store their balls, buckets etc. Good luck.
